French architectural engraving, circa 1850–1875, after a 16th-century design by Jacques I Androuet du Cerceau from Le Premier Volume des Plus Excellents Bastiments de France.

The engraving depicts a Renaissance fireplace designed for a chamber at the Château de Madrid, the former royal residence commissioned by King Francis I outside Paris. Richly detailed with classical ornament, figures, and garlands, the composition reflects the decorative grandeur of the French Renaissance and documents one of France's most celebrated lost royal residences.
