Late 18th-Century French Louis XVI Giltwood Mirror with Period Mercury Glass
Decor
Late 18th-century French giltwood mirror in the Louis XVI style, dating to circa 1780–1800. The carved frame features a ribbon-twist border with square floral rosettes at each corner, delicate beaded molding surrounding the mirror plate and floral and foliate drops along the sides.
The period mercury glass retains extensive foxing, mottling and areas of mercury loss developed over more than two centuries, creating a distinctive cloudy and timeworn surface. Please review all photos closely for the condition and appearance of the mirror plate.
